Visual Artist
I photograph what stays with me — places, bodies, gestures, objects, light, silence.
Real life and Second Life are simply two places where I look.
Listen while you look
Original music by Valentina Ametsak.
These photographs come from places I have been — landscapes, weather, people, objects, moments that caught my attention and made me look again. I am less interested in documenting where I was than in what stayed with me afterwards.
Minor Figures is a photographic series made on the beach using small objects connected to personal memories. I place them in the landscape and photograph what happens when something ordinary, small and familiar is given a new place to exist.
These photographs are made in Second Life — places I visit, build, inhabit, and return to with a camera. I approach the virtual world as I approach any other place: looking for light, gestures, details, people, and moments that make me stop and look again.
A selection of my work exhibited in The Art of Ametsak, my gallery and museum in Second Life.
These short audiovisual works bring together Second Life avatars, music, AI-generated video, and my own editing. Some begin with a song, some with a character, and some with an image I want to take somewhere else. I use the virtual stage to play with identity, attitude, movement, and the strange freedom of becoming someone through an avatar.
Sometimes a photograph leaves something unsaid. Stories is where I follow that thought in words — short texts, memories, notes, and small fictions that begin with an image or with something that happened around it. The text does not explain the photograph; it takes it somewhere else.
LOVE LETTER TO MYSELF
I hadn’t realized it, and yet you had always been here, patient, by my side. I searched for affection in other people, while leaving you behind.
As the years passed, after waiting so long for love and enduring so many disappointments that I began to believe I was unworthy of it, I discover that you are here.
So close that I can touch you, feel you, know what nourishes you and what hurts you, what your favorite color is, what food you love most, what makes you laugh, and what brings you to tears.
I have discovered that there is no one more faithful, no one more loyal. You are strong and at the same time sensitive; you make my life a path filled with vivid colors, and in moments of darkness you reach out your hand to me, softly caress me, and whisper in my ear, “It’s okay, I love you, I’m here for whatever you need.”
Because of you, I can enjoy my independence and my freedom. Because of you, I have learned to value the meaning of life — of my own life.
Forgive me for having pushed you aside, for not turning to you when in truth I could not live without you. You are the driving force of my existence and the most unconditional support I have ever known.
You do not judge me. You love me without prejudice. You love me exactly as I am, with my virtues and my flaws.
I promise to love you too, until the end of my days.
Eternally grateful,
Valentina Ametsak
THE CUBE
They lived enclosed within a geometric space, trapped inside an illusion that was not easy to escape, unaware that anything existed beyond the edges where the walls of their thoughts met. Brushstrokes of certainty papered their home, a symbol of wisdom and perfection, each brick built since childhood.
One ordinary day, Lara, sickened by ignorance, tore down one of the walls, and a desire to explore new forms of knowledge flooded her soul. She left behind that cube, which had never allowed her to see beyond a single reality.
BOLDNESS
“I said no.”
“Well, I say yes.”
They could never agree. One moved by intuition, the other by reason. It had always been the same.
Suddenly, one lost its reason, and the other was left at the mercy of madness.
The Art of Ametsak is my exhibition space in Second Life — a place I am building for photography, virtual work, sound, and projects that need a space of their own.
The gallery brings together selected works from different parts of my practice. The exhibitions may change over time as new photographs, series, videos, and virtual pieces are added.

I am Valentina Ametsak, a visual artist working with photography, video, music, writing, and virtual spaces.
My work begins with things that catch my attention and stay with me — a place, a person, an object, a song, a gesture, or an image. I work both in real life and Second Life, using each as another place to look, make, and experiment.
This website brings together the different parts of that work.
